In my work as a professional videographer I sometimes experience people being nervous and fearful before shooting a video. That is very understandable. It’s something that I also needed to step past when starting doing videos on our Social Media profiles: Instagram and LinkedIN. Working as a Social Worker, Psychotherapist and Mindfulness Facilitator back in Denmark has equipped me with great tools and skills to deal with this.
Here are a few tips to make you calm before a shoot:
Accept and acknowledge what you are thinking and feeling. Don’t fight it. Give it space.
Relax inside. Even though your body is saying something else, a deeper you inside can relax.
Meditate and do mindfulness daily to help you build your inner quietude
Imagine how you would feel AFTER the video shoot and bring that feeling into the present moment, like you already did the shoot. This will make your brain relax.
Don’t take yourself serious! We all have anxiety and fear. But when we see this as just a human condition and programmed patterns, we tend to take ourselves less serious.
